100 Mile & District Arts Council

Serving the South Cariboo Arts Community since 1975

Your 100 Mile & District Arts Council:  Who we are and what we do.

Established in 1974 and incorporated in 1975, the 100 Mile & District Arts Council is a volunteer-run,
community based umbrella organization for local arts and cultural groups.  We are dedicated to developing
opportunities for area residents to experience and/or participate in creative and cultural endeavours.

We strive to meet this objective by awarding grants to our arts-related member groups and, when our
budget allows it, by sponsoring concerts featuring professional Canadian performers.  We also award up to
three scholarships annually to students graduating from our senior secondary school who are entering
arts-related post-secondary programs.

Since 1999, we have given our member groups over $60,000 to help them offset some of their operational
costs.  During the same time period, we have awarded $13,000 in scholarships.  We have raised these
funds through grants from the BC Arts Council and income from our annual Winter Arts & Craft Fair.

We know that the groups we support would probably exist without us. However, we sincerely believe that
our grants have made life a bit easier for our following members:

Festival of the Arts

Performing Arts Society

Eclectica Community Choir

Community Band

Cariboo Artist's Guild

Mural Society

South Cariboo Arts & Culture Society

Cariboo Calico Quilters

Log Cabin Quilters

South Cariboo Weavers & Spinners

Stemete7uw'i : A Gathering Place Friendship Society
