Your 100 Mile & District Arts Council: Who we are and what we do.
Established in 1974 and incorporated in 1975, the 100 Mile & District Arts Council is a volunteer-run, community based umbrella organization for local arts and cultural groups. We are dedicated to developing opportunities for area residents to experience and/or participate in creative and cultural endeavours.
We strive to meet this objective by awarding grants to our arts-related member groups and, when our budget allows it, by sponsoring concerts featuring professional Canadian performers. We also award up to three scholarships annually to students graduating from our senior secondary school who are entering arts-related post-secondary programs. Since 1999, we have given our member groups over $60,000 to help them offset some of their operational costs. During the same time period, we have awarded $13,000 in scholarships. We have raised these funds through grants from the BC Arts Council and income from our annual Winter Arts & Craft Fair.
We know that the groups we support would probably exist without us. However, we sincerely believe that our grants have made life a bit easier for our following members:
